Junior Surf Program
What is it?
Our Junior Surf Nipper program is targeted at those aged 7 to 12 years old.
The program is run three times a week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm.
The 2025/26 season will begin on Sunday 28th December 2025 and run until Sunday 25th January 2025, finishing off with a fun BBQ celebration.
We have experienced coaches who encourage children to have fun, get involved, increase their confidence in the water and learn important water safety skills.
Parent feedback:
My children's experience in Nippers at Onemana SLSC meant that they were able to face the waves at any beach they visited.
How to Join?
Online membership registration opens on the 10th October 2025 and if you indicate you are joining as a Junior Surf member you will be sent a link to an online registration form for Junior Surf. If you have any questions, turn up to one of our Junior Surf days and have a chat with one of our friendly coaches who can assist you.

Wednesday 31st of December 2025 - 200m Swim Badge (Whangamata Community Pool, 9 am)

Sunday 25th January 2026: Last day of Junior Surf
Parent Help:
We require parent-help to assist with water safety so that we meet the health & safety ratio criteria to help keep our kids safe in the water. Volunteering from time-to-time is a good way to get involved and give back to the community and ensure that our programme can go ahead. So when you register, make sure you tick the box and let us know so that we can put you down on the roster!

Junior Surf Sports Program:
What is it?
This season we are proud to announce a NEW surf sports program, targeted at older nippers (aged 10-14yrs) to develop their competitive surf sports skills. We have an experienced coach on board to develop surf swimming, kneeboarding and competition skills throughout 5 sessions over the summer period.
Dates:
Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays starting on Monday the 29th December 2025 and finishes on Friday 9th January 2026
